About Me
Rex New’s feature writing debut, DANCE CAMP, directed by Bert & Bertie, received a WGA nomination for Best Children’s Longform. Most importantly, it starred Jake Paul. His second feature, BAD HOMBRES, directed by John Stalberg, starred Diego Tinoco, Hemky Madera, Luke Hemsworth, and Thomas Jane. In October 2024, Rex was part of the inaugural Bendfilm: Basecamp fellowship class, where he workshopped his newest feature film project.
In audio, Rex served as head writer, director, and showrunner of both seasons of the quirky cyber-thriller THE HACKER CHRONICLES, starring Michael C. Hall and Chloe Taylor. The show received Webby recognition for Best Fiction Podcast. He was also showrunner and director on the first season of comedic murder mystery MURDER IN HR, starring Kate Mara and Brett Gelman. The series reached #1 on Apple’s Fiction charts and #38 on all podcasts. It also received the Webby Award for Best B2B Campaign, which was kind of like cheating, because none of the other nominated shows had famous people in them.
In the branded content space, Rex recently served as showrunner of VALOR, a non-fiction podcast series that highlights the stories of female veterans. The series was sponsored by e.lf. Cosmetics. Other clients Rex has worked with include Alation, Kearney, Aon, and thought leaders Ryan Estis, Laurie Ruettimann, and Anthony Di Iorio.
Rex is a member of the Writers Guild of America West, Filmshop, and the WGA Audio Alliance. Previously, Rex worked as a production assistant at Playboy TV, where he met both Octo-Mom and Ron Jeremy, finally earning the respect of his parents.
